Conception paysagère de Torre Mata Atlântica / Benedito Abbud Arquitetura Paisagística
Description textuelle fournie par les architectes. Torre Mata Atlântica fait partie du complexe Cidade Matarazzo, un développement à usage mixte de la ville de São Paulo qui comprend des logements, des bureaux, des hôtels, des magasins, des restaurants, un centre culturel et une chapelle.
Au sein du grand terrain appartenant à l’ancien hôpital historique classé de Matarazzo, le bâtiment est également à usage mixte, avec des suites hôtelières et des appartements résidentiels, tous deux gérés par la chaîne hôtelière Rosewood, et des espaces commerciaux sur sa base. Il s’agit d’une nouvelle construction au concept architectural des Ateliers Jean Nouvel, qui occupe une partie d’environ 3 000 m² du terrain de 30 000 m².
L’architecture paysagère du complexe Cidade Matarazzo est née d’un principe important : elle doit jouer un rôle majeur autant que les bâtiments. Son rôle était donc d’égaliser le paysage chaotique du site, composé de bâtiments de différents types, certains datant du début du XXe siècle et d’autres de nouvelles constructions. La végétation imprègne tout le complexe, occupant les espaces vides, dans la relation complexe entre les volumes. Dans ce contexte, est né le concept de Torre Mata Atlântica, avec ses grandes terrasses en escalier, couvertes d’arbres, évoquant les pentes verdoyantes de la Serra do Mar.
Le jardin de devant est une forêt dense qui protège l’intimité des occupants et dissimule le volume massif du bâtiment aux passants dans la rue. D’immenses jardinières surélevées ont été créées aux 10e, 16e et 21e étages, là où le bâtiment possède les plus grandes terrasses. Au dernier étage (27ème étage), tout l’espace est un jardin. De plus, la végétation imprègne tout le volume complexe du bâtiment, avec des jardinières de taille moyenne et de grands vases sur les balcons des appartements, créant un bâtiment changeant au caractère imprévisible.
Planter des arbres sur les gratte-ciel est une tendance explorée par l’architecture au cours de la dernière décennie, à la fois pour son attrait esthétique et son symbolisme environnemental. Cependant, ce type de situation implique toujours une série de risques accrus, liés au contrôle des racines, aux chutes de branches ou à l’arbre lui-même. Et, dans le cas d’une tour de plus d’une centaine de mètres de hauteur et comportant des arbres matures, ces risques sont encore plus grands. Ensuite, pour permettre la mise en œuvre du projet avec un niveau de sécurité acceptable, des études approfondies des risques et le développement de solutions pour les minimiser ont été nécessaires.
Condition essentielle, les arbres ont été choisis en fonction de leur résistance aux vents. À cette fin, des modèles informatiques de plusieurs espèces indigènes ont été créés. La simulation, dans des conditions de vents extrêmes, a pris en compte la résistance du bois, la disposition typique des branches, la forme typique de la couronne et du feuillage. Après avoir été évaluées et approuvées, les essences ont été positionnées dans le bâtiment en fonction de leurs caractéristiques.
Des solutions d’ancrage et de confinement physique des arbres ont également été développées, tant pour leurs parties enterrées (motte) que aériennes (tronc et branches). Assurer une couche de sécurité supplémentaire même dans le pire des cas.
