I’ve had it with this town, I never saw those shifting skies. I never saw the ground or the sunset rise. I want to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with the usual montage of talent arriving at the arena.
Stephanie McMahon makes her entrance and gets on the mic.
She says it’s an incredible honor to be here in the amazing city of Indianapolis and streating live on Peacock in the US and on Netflix internationally simultaneously, bringing the WWE Universe together like never before. She thanks the crowd for making this the biggest Royal Rumble in history and welcomes us to the show.
Pat McAfee narrates a video package about how much he loves Indianapolis.
Women’s Royal Rumble
IYO SKY enters at #1 and Liv Morgan enters at #2 to begin the match.
Circling, collar and elbow, struggling, Morgan with some knees, sets up a side headlock, shot off, shoulder block takes SKY down and Liv dances about it. Off the ropes, IYO clubs her down, shows off by flipping over her and doing a series of handsprings before dropkicking her into the corner!
Morgan gets her out on the apron and kicks at her but SKY fends her off and gets back inside! Oblivion blocked, IYO gets Liv on the apron, struggling, shoulder block caught, Morgan tries to pull her out and fails as the countdown timer ticks…
Roxanne Perez enters at #3.
Rushing in, Perez attacks SKY, Lou Thesz Press into mounted punches, rolling solebutt for Morgan, go-behind, she shoves IYO into her! SKY shoves her off, powerbomb countered into a Frankensteiner, Roxanne goes corner-to-corner with uppercuts and then stacks ;em up for a big one!
Double DDT, kip-up, Perez standing tall, dumping Liv to the apron, struggling, IYO comes over and puts Roxanne on the apron! Perez with a headscissors, tijeras takes SKY back inside and Morgan hits a Codebreaker on Roxanne as the countdown timer ticks…
Lyra Valkyria enters at #4.
Getting into it with SKY, fisherman suplex, adjusting the halter on her top, Liv clubs Lyra into the corner so she can fix her top and keep her titties from spilling out. Morgan with kicks, Valkyria recovered from her wardrobe malfunction and she tries to dump IYO as the countdown timer ticks…
Chelsea Green enters at #5.
Green taking her sweet time walking to the ring, enjoying her adoring public as she goes, rolling inside and slapping the taste out of Liv and Roxanne’s mouths! Dumping everybody over the ropes but nobody falls to the floor! Chelsea celebrates her eliminations as she realizes that all four women are still in the match and they all light on her with punches!

She comes in with a boot over the ropes at Green, shoulder blocks, Valkyria grabs at her but FAB puts her in the corner for a kick! B stacks Liv and Roxanne up for an elbow, SKY rolls her through for a kick but B-FAB lands a fisherman neckbreaker and dumps her over to the apron!

Ivy Nile enters at #7.
Nile in with a spinebuster on Valkyria, rolling her through, scooping her up, dumping her to the apron but IYO comes over and Ivy German suplexes her! One for Liv as well, and then she gets Green and Perez at the same time! More struggling in the corner, IYO and Liv trying to dump B-FAB as the countdown timer ticks…
Zoey Stark enters at #8.
Stark slingshots in, half nelson suplex on SKY, knees and kicks abound, Green tries to eliminate her and Zoey pops up for a diving corkscrew neckbreaker on her! Drawing IYO up, trying to dump her, SKY hanging in there, Liv is close to dumping Chelsea but she clings to the ropes as the countdown timer ticks…
Lash Legend enters at #9.
Legend throwing girls around out the gates, pointing at the sign, blocking a tijeras from Nile and swinging her around as a weapon, knocking everybody over before powerbombing her! B-FAB attacks her from behind and she and Lash trade hard right hands in the middle of the ring!

Belair chucks Perez over the ropes, Valkyria as well, hooking SKY for the marching vertical suplex and then she kips up! “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens (WWE Undisputed Championship Ladder Match)
Into it, whip across, Owens with a back elbow and stomps, action to the floor, knocking a ladder over, suplex denied so Kev just scoops him up and slams him into the ladder! Fighting out into the crowd, Rhodes throws a fan’s beverage at KO as they walk and brawl and Owens throws Cody into the camera lens!
Clubbing blows from Rhodes, fighting back towards ringside and Kevin gourdbusters him over the barricade and back to ringside! Leaning a ladder against the apron, Owens throws him over it and slides it into the ring! Kevin sets the ladder up and climbs but Cody returns to cut him off! Fighting over the ladder, Rhodes bounces him off of it and takes a breather!
Action to the floor, KO bounces his face off the announce desk and picks the cover up off it and smashes Cody in the head with it! Under the ring for another ladder, bridging the apron and the announce desk with it! Rhodes recovers and puts Owens hard into the steel steps for a breather! Cody rolls back inside and resets the ladder but KO meets him with a stubby ladder and throws it at him to cut him off!
Rhodes comes back with the little ladder, ramming it into Kevin, throwing it at him, leaving him down and out in the corner as the American Nightmare climbs! Owens smashes him in the knee with the little ladder and then the elbow, before throwing it at his midsection! Tossing back suplex puts Cody into the little ladder!
Rhodes recovers and climbs, hanging from the belts as Kevin pulls him aside! Cody stabilizes and gets back on the ladder… KO PULLS HIM DOWN INTO A POWERBOMB! Putting Rhodes under the ladder, Owens climbs but Cody presses the ladder and forces him off to deal with him! Rhodes rolls to the floor, back inside, suplex puts Kevin into a ladder!
Cody breaks the bottom rung off a ladder and wails on Owens with it! KO with a superkick, grabbing the rung and smacking Rhodes with it! Kev goes and gets a new ladder, Cody cuts him off, back and forth… RHODES BACK BODY DROPS OWENS INTO AN OPEN LADDER LEFT LEANING ON ITS SIDE!
Cody climbs, Kevin gets under him… POWERBOMB THROUGH A LADDER PROPPED UP IN THE TURNBUCKLES! Rhodes unmoving in the immediate aftermath, starting to twitch, Owens climbs and Cody cuts him off. Right hand from KO, throwing him into the corner, setting him on a ladder stretched between a vertical ladder and the ropes, Owens up in the turnbuckles but Rhodes gets up and cuts him off in the corner! Jockeying for position… KO AVALANCHE FISHERMAN BUSTER THROUGH THE LADDER DANGERRROUS!
Referee Ryan Tran rushes to check on Cody in the aftermath! Road agents Jason Jordan and Kenn Doane check on him, Petey Williams and Nick Aldis checking on Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn is here! KO to his feet first, stumbling and spent, clutching the back of his head as he draws Cody to his feet!
Rhodes takes him to the floor, vicious smashing his face into the announce desk and then into the ringpost! Cody gasping, desperate, his body spent and spirit weary, back over as Owens gets to his feet, bleeding from the face! Rhodes targets the facial wound with mounted punches before getting up on the announce des with him!
Another punch… KEVIN OWENS PUNCHES HIM IN THE GENTLEMAN’S AREA! Underhooks, Cody blocks the Package Piledriver… ALABAMA SLAM THROUGH A LADDER AND TO THE FLOOR! Rhodes heads back in the ring, climbs the ladder, he’s got hands on the titles…
Cody Rhodes wins by retrieving the title belts, retaining the WWE Undisputed Championship.
Post-match, medics and Sami Zayn tend to Kevin Owens.
We get a hype reel for WWE Evolve on Tubi and a small part of my soul dies.
I never wrote the postmortem on Evolve that I really should have but it breaks my heart that a promotion that was really special and had a unique thing going for several years as the home of American technical wrestling excellence sold its soul to the machine and immediately had its heart ripped out and stripped for parts.
I would not be the woman that I am today and I would not be liveblogging this show for you right now if Evolve hadn’t stoked the fires of my love for indie wrestling and it hurt so bad to see it die the first time and it sucks to see it exhumed and flogged to a free-with-ads streaming service.

Rey Mysterio enters at #1 and Penta enters at #2 to start the match.
Penta and Rey shake hands and have a chat, Mysterio tries to back off but Zero keeps his grip and drops a Cero Miedo in his face! Rey offers up elbows, and both men almost spill out of the ring! Penta back body drops him into a superkick in the corner, Mysterio meets him with a kick from the apron, diving tijeras countered, reversed, electric chair, victory roll, Penta gets one foot on the floor but keeps from being eliminated!
Both men on the apron, Penta with a boot, back body drop sends him inside, Rey meets him with an elbow, but he cuts Mysterio off in the corner as the countdown timer ticks…
Chad Gable enters at #3.
Gable going right after Penta, back body drop puts him on the apron, Chad shifts gears to Rey, sunset flip attempt, roll through, trying for a catapult, back body drop on Zero, catapult sends Mysterio to the apron but he hangs in there and slingshots back inside! Penta with a bulldog, Gable down in the corner as the countdown timer ticks…
Carmelo Hayes enters at #4.
La Mistica on Penta right out the gates, denying Rey a handshake and shoving him down, Mysterio with an upkick, La Mistica of his own, Melo with a club and the springboard DDT! Trying to form an alliance with Gable, whip Penta into a Hart Attack! Whip for Rey, he slides under elbows, eats shoulders and double elbow drops!
Back body drop on Gable as the alliance dissolves and Chad lands a German suplex on him as the countdown timer ticks…
Santos Escobar enters at #5.
Escobar catapults Mysterio into the second rope, off the ropes, Tiger feint kick connects but Santos runs into Penta right after! Cero Miedo, shoving him off, rolling solebutt, flip piledriver! Rey with a tijeras to put Escobar into the second and he hits the 619! Gable dumping everybody to the apron but making no eliminations! QUADRUPLE SUPERKICKS LAY THE OLYMPIAN OUT!

Dozer with a powerbomb, setting up the Caterpillar but Gable cuts him off with an ankle lock! Otis shrugs him off, they trade huge paintbrushing slaps!
