Guardians and gamers everywhere, it’s time to min/max your builds, equip your best loadouts, and get ready for another Destiny 2 race.
After two intense races in 2024, the first competition of 2025 in Destiny 2 is the Sundered Doctrine World First dungeon race. Teams of three Guardians around the globe will queue up at the same time to fly into an old location offering new encounters and puzzles to try and win the title of being a world first champion, forever.
Something is afoot in the old pyramid ship in Savathun’s Throne World. The massive vessel previously led by Rhulk and seen in the Vow of the Disciple raid from The Witch Queen expansion has new tenants in the Dread, The Witness’s army, and they must be stopped. That’s where the Guardians come in.
Let’s lock in and see who’s going to take home the title of World First champions, along with some sweet real-life prizes.
Destiny 2 Sundered Doctrine dungeon race live blog
- 5:35pm CT: It’s now been confirmed by Bungie that Biggz, Mariomonkey, and luigistyle pulled it off. Congratulations to the victors of the dungeon race, who will be receiving their exclusive trophies for doing so. GG to everyone, including Bungie, for making another fun dungeon.
- 4:45pm CT: Several teams have now cleared the dungeon, and Bungie is working to verify who won.
- 4:31pm CT: Bungie has acknowledged that the raid has been cleared. They are now working to verify its validity. Sit tight!
- 4:30pm CT: Okay, this new exotic is awesome. You can fire a turret that floats in the air, and then using the fusion rifle’s laser, aim where it fires for BIG damage. Check it out in the clip below.
- 4:21pm CT: The new dungeon exotic from the dungeon has been revealed. Finality’s Auger, a linear fusion rifle. We are still awaiting Bungie to acknowledge a clear. Nothing is official until Bungie announces it.
- 4:18pm CT: They did it! BiggzNA, a streamer with less than 700 followers and his teammates Mariomonkey and luigistyle, have cleared the dungeon. Now, it’s up to Bungie to authenticate the clear and crown them the victors.
- 4:15pm CT: Time for last phase!
- 4:11pm CT: Whoa! Just like that, BiggzNA has the boss down to less than one-third health! This could be it!
- 4:08pm CT: Here’s what a DPS phase looks like in the fight with Kerrev. Other teams are getting into it too, trying to land on what kind of weapons to use for the most damage. There’s no knowing just how many teams are at this point now, so we could get a notice of a possible clear any minute now.
- 4pm CT: THEY WERE RIGHT! Five hours into the race, ATP’s team has figured out the DPS phase of the final boss, and now it’s all about maximizing damage and dealing with whatever else the fight throws at the team. But now, word will spread to other teams on how to trigger DPS, and the race is truly on! It’s about to get blown wide open.
- 3:55pm CT: Coming up on five hours now in the dungeon race, All_The_Players and team are hypothesizing that symbols being shown to them are “two truths and a lie,” and are attempting to head in that direction. The basic gist of the fight so far involves lighting up the apropriate symbols that appear on a big wheel in the front of the room. Time to watch the squad try it out.

- 3:30pm CT: Teams are throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks, including trying to “brute force” the encounter or just get lucky somehow. Still, nothing. The first team reached the boss fight almost two hours ago, and there has not been any progress made since.
- 3:22pm CT: This has now become the longest dungeon race of all time, surpassing Vesper’s Host, which ended in four hours and 22 minutes. And still, not one team (that we know of) has started the DPS phase for Kerrev, The Erased.
- 3pm CT: Four hours into the race, several other teams have now gotten to the boss fight. We are at a stalemate otherwise as teams continue to struggle with narrowing down the boss’s DPS mechanic.
- 2:40pm CT: Nothing new to report thus far. Teams are still figuring out how to get to DPS phase. Once that happens, word will spread, and you can bet that teams will begin to chip away at the boss’s health quite quickly.
- 2:10pm CT: Here’s my perspective of the ongoing race, keeping track of the top teams as they push towards the finale. Five teams total, at least, appear to be fighting the boss and trying to figure it out.

- 2:05pm CT: Multiple raid-race winner Saltagreppo and Clan Elysium have now made their way towards the final encounter, so the list of potential victors has now grown. Before long, most teams will be fighting the boss and trying to clear it first. But for now, we have still not seen a damage phase.
- 2pm CT: We’re now three hours into this race, and just a handful of teams are on the final boss, now including Vendetta and their team. As it stands, teams have not yet figured out how to trigger DPS phase, and they are trying out different ideas and theories on how to get the boss Kerrev damageable.
- 1:40pm CT: This encounter looks to combine all previous mechanics into one, more complicated, and lengthy fight against Kerrev and their forces. But with multiple teams working on the fight, and others soon to follow, we could be seeing real progress very shortly.
- 1:35pm CT: Here we go. Indebted have made it to the final boss, Kerrev, the Erased. Another team, led by a streamer with just 460 followers, is also there. Their name is BiggzNA, and they may be on their way to slaying Goliath when it comes to dungeon races. Lore-wise, Kerrev is a large Dread who looks to be trying to undergo some sort of ritual involving a giant Hive worm.

- 1:30pm CT: Surprise! the next room is a large one, featuring multiple lenses that must reflect the Darkness energy somehow to continue on in the activity. As Indebted pushes forward, other teams remain on the Zoetic Lockset fight for the time being.
- 1:20pm CT: aTides and Indebted have cleared the encounter and are moving on! The next objective is to “locate the vault.” Everyone else is now playing catch-up to the team attempting to win back to back dungeon races. Meanwhile, Bungie has checked in, posting an image of devs in the studio watching along.

- 1:10pm CT: Progress has ground to a halt as teams struggle to stay alive during the encounter, running out of revive tokens needed to do enough damage within the battle to finish off the boss.
- 1pm CT: Two hours into this race, we’ve reached the familiar point where most teams know how to complete the encounter, but it all comes down to a DPS check and execution. Several top teams are now grinding to whittle down the health pool of Zoetic Lockset so they can continue to the next encounter.
- 12:49pm CT: So close! ATP and squad were almost there, with just a fraction of health left on the boss’s HP bar, but wiped before they could finish. But it’s looking like Zoetic Lockset may be conquered soon.
- 12:40pm CT: All_The_Players and team seem to have figured out that Celestial Nighthawk GOld Gun, Sleeper Simulant, and sniper rifles are a solid idea for DPS, taking over one third of the boss’s health after one damage phase.
- 12:30pm CT: If you’re following along by playing in the race itself, then check out our guide for all of the Vow of the Disciple symbols, including what their community-accepted callouts are.
- 12:20pm CT: Skarrow9 is now working on how to maximize DPS (which weapons to use, etc.), along with damage phase time length, which appears to have to do with which Vow of the Disciple symbols are interacted with.
- 12:13pm CT: YouTube streamer Skarrow9 and team have figured out how to trigger the DPS phase of the Zoetic Lockset fight, but currently need to decipher how to extend the phase to make the damage worthwhile.

- 12:10pm CT: Over 114,000 viewers are tuned in to Destiny 2 on Twitch, as races often pull in big viewership as players watch to root on their favorite streamers or learn intel on how to complete the dungeon themselves.
- 12pm CT: One hour into the dungeon, the majority of teams are still on the opening encounter, while aTides and All_The_Players are working through the Zoetic Lockset fight, among others.
- 11:52am CT: aTides and Indebted, with screen blurred and audio turned off to prevent others from discovering their strategies, have found a new encounter. It’s a fight with four giant Shriekers called Zoetic Lockset, with more symbols and lights coming from the wall.
![Destiny 2 raid race screenshot](https://dotesports.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/image-2025-02-07T125156.509.jpg?w=640)
- 11:45am CT: As All_The_Players has joined the fray after clearing the first encounter, the teams are now dealing with Indiana Jones-like giant spiky balls that keeps rolling through the area where they must proceed.
- 11:41am CT: And just like that, the first encounter has been cleared. Streamer aTides of the clan Indebted has cleared the first encounter and are now entering a claustrophobic maze within the pyramid ship. This team already won the first dungeon World First Race for Vesper’s Host this past October, and are looking to win again.
- 11:40am CT: It seems like teams are getting close to nearing the finish line of the encounter. Like most dungeon or raid encounters, there’s a lot of trial and error, repetition, and learning done as players fail the encounter. More is gleaned with each run, expertise is gained through repeating the encounter, and eventually, it’s conquered and the team can move on to the next battle.
- 11:30am CT: On evanf1997’s official stream, the description of the encounter is as follows: “Extend the light beam from the center of the room to the wheel with the matching symbol using lenses from the Lens Bearers. Timer will reset with every correct connection. Repeat three times to complete the encounter.”
- 11:20am CT: There’s also a special Dread enemy named Lens Bearer who drops lens that players can pick up to use to reflect the beam of light, which looks like Darkness energy, to figure out a solution involving the symbols.
- 11:15am CT: To enter the dungeon, fireteams must “solve the riddle” (on an Enrage timer) with a buff called “Eyes Up, Guardian,” and seemingly use the lights around the room to power up this wheel-like door, seen below. There’s also a lens item that players can pick up to interact with the encounter.

- 11:10am CT: The teams are fully engaged in the opening encounter, which looks to involve some sort of light-aiming mechanic using several statues around a big room as Dread enemies flood the area. And the symbols from Vow of the Disciple seem to have made a return as well. Oh boy.
- 11am CT: And they’re off! Eris Morn’s apartment has the quest required to start the dungeon, and teams are flying in to Savathun’s Throne World to begin the activity.
- 10:55am CT: We’re minutes away now, and the teams are all ready to begin the race. Top Destiny streamers such as Datto, Aztecross, Sweatcicle, Leopard, GernaderJake, and many more are making last-minute preparations.
- 10:05am CT: Be sure to tune in to the live streams today, such as evanf1997 on Twitch, for the pre-show and to start your watch time requirements for the Twitch drops. Check out more info below!
- Feb. 7, 2025, 9:45am CT: Good morning, Guardians. It’s race day, which means it’s time to sit back and enjoy as players bash their heads against the wall trying to fight tough bosses or figure out unique mechanics. Or, you can be the one sweating and bashing. It’s up to you. Either way, we’ll be here posting updates on who’s in the lead for the race all day long until a champion is crowned.
