Discounts on Nintendo’s latest-and-greatest Switch OLED console happen very rarely, but this Black Friday you can snag one for just $304 — just $5 shy of the lowest price we’ve seen yet. The Nintendo Switch OLED tops our list of the best handheld console you can buy, and our Nintendo Switch OLED review had plenty of good things to say about this upgraded console, from its gorgeous new OLED display, improved speakers, better kickstand, and ample storage space compared to the original Switch.

If you’ve had your eye on a Switch Lite, you’ve got options. Already this Black Friday, we saw the Switch Lite Hyrule Edition selling for $209 at Best Buy, which was the ideal offer for Zelda fans. Now, the standard Switch Lite has dropped, from its usual price of $199 to $180 at Walmart.

We loved this handheld in our Switch Lite review. It’s even more compact and portable than the standard Switch, so if you want to game on the go, it’s the ideal companion.

The Batman: Arkham Trilogy brings three of the greatest superhero games ever made to the Nintendo Switch, featuring Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight. This collection includes all previously released DLC, offering an incredible amount of gameplay packed with Gotham’s gritty atmosphere.

While Arkham Asylum and Arkham City perform impressively on the Switch, Arkham Knight has been noted for some performance hiccups, which may slightly impact the experience on this platform. Despite this, the trilogy delivers a fantastic opportunity for players to dive into the critically acclaimed series.

The 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller is a standout option for gamers seeking versatility. It has a premium build, customizable buttons, and compatibility across platforms like PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. The ergonomic design ensures you’re comfortable during extended play, and the included charging dock is a thoughtful bonus.

In our review, we said « the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller offers a lot of value for the price and we’ve seen it go on sale fairly often now that it’s been available for a little over a year. If you play on both Switch and PC, the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller might be the only controller you need. »

Originally released on Xbox and PC, both games feel perfectly suited for the Switch, with their intuitive controls and fluid mechanics shining in handheld mode. The collection is ideal for fans of exploration and fast-paced platforming, offering hours of engaging gameplay. The HORI D-Pad Controller for is a must-have for gamers who prioritize precision in handheld mode. Replacing the left Joy-Con, it features a responsive, rubbery D-pad, ideal for retro titles and games requiring tight inputs, like Street Fighter or Mega Man.

Its compact design enhances handheld gameplay but lacks features like rumble, motion controls, or wireless connectivity, limiting its use to portable mode. While it doesn’t work as a standalone controller for party play, it excels at delivering accurate inputs for platformers and fighting games. Now that it’s on sale for Black Friday, it’s definitely worth getting to enhance your gaming experience.

We gave Animal Crossing: New Horizons a solid 4-star review for its charming gameplay, creative freedom and satisfying progression. The game invites players to craft their perfect island, foster friendships with endearing animal villagers and participate in adorable seasonal events.

Its success earned it the « Highly Recommended » honor for Best Characters in our Tom’s Guide Awards 2021 for gaming. The award recognized its quirky and lovable cast, who bring the island to life with their unique (but incredibly cute) personalities.

Hogwarts Legacy is an incredible experience for fans of the Wizarding World, and as a huge Harry Potter fan, it was a dream come true to immerse myself in the magic. Now that its $29 down from $59 at Best Buy, I just have to talk about it.

The game beautifully captures the essence of Hogwarts with incredible detail, from the iconic moving staircases to the familiar charm of Hogsmeade. The open-world exploration, spellcasting and character customization were just a few of the standout features that made me fall in love with it. In fact, it’s one of the few games I’ve ever 100% completed. This speaks volumes about how engaging, fun and faithful it is to the Harry Potter franchise. For anyone who loves the Wizarding World, this game is an absolute must-have now that it’s on sale.

Cuphead is one of the most addictive games on Switch. It’s so absorbing that I once missed my stop while playing it on a train! Right now, Cuphead is on sale for $25 @ Amazon, which is $15 it’s MSRP.

Packing a charming art style that mimics classic ’40s cartoons, don’t let the cutest visuals fool you, Cuphead is a testing game that requires precise platforming. This Switch edition includes the Delicious Last Course (DLC!) expansion with a new playable character, Ms. Chalice.

Sonic Frontiers is a fun little game to play, and it’s well worth the money now that its dropped to $24 for Black Friday. The game centers around Sonic, Tails, and Amy, who travel to Starfall Islands to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the Chaos Emeralds. After being separated from his friends due to a cyberspace anomaly, Sonic must explore the islands and face robotic foes created by an advanced civilization. Meanwhile, a mysterious AI, Sage, warns Sonic of an impending threat.

In our Sonic Frontiers review, we said « As a full-fledged game, Sonic Frontiers has its ups and downs. As an experiment, though? Sonic Frontiers is much better than it has to be, and it successfully carves a path forward for the beloved blue hedgehog. »

There’s no debate about the very best Switch game for me, The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is the answer. This must-play Switch exclusive has just dropped to a new lowest price for Black Friday. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is $30 at Walmart.

In my review, I said « The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom lives up to the franchise’s pedigree, and then some. It’s a remarkably confident sequel that refines and remixes elements of Breath of the Wild in delightfully surprising ways. The aging Switch hardware it’s confined to can’t always keep pace, but that’s a minor blemish on an overall masterful experience that is essential for all Nintendo fans. »

Super Mario Odyssey launched just a few months after the Switch in 2017. Yet all these years later it’s still unmatched and remains the best 3D platformer on the Switch console. Right now, Mario Odyssey is on sale for $29 at Best Buy, that’s a bargain for a game of this quality.

You play as the iconic Nintendo mascot as he travels across various kingdoms in search of Power Moons. Each new environment is unique and packed with secrets. Plus, with new pal Cappy on your side (or should that be on your head) Mario unlocks the ability to transform into various objects and characters from a Goomba to a T-Rex.

If you want a Nintendo Switch game that could last you until next Black Friday, even a rushed playthrough of Persona 5 Royal will last you more than 60 hours. If you take your time (and you should), it can be stretched beyond 150 hours, and not for a moment does it get dull.

You play a seemingly ordinary high schooler in Tokyo, during the day you attend class and deal with teen problems, but at night, you lead a group of vigilantes known as The Phantom Thieves. Blending dungeon-crawling with a social sim, and wrapped in some of the best art design in gaming history, Persona 5 Royal is a modern masterwork.

The Nintendo Switch comes with a relatively pitiful 32GB of internal storage, and even the Switch OLED only boosts that to 64 GB. It’s fair to say, that if you want to build a digital library, you’ll need more space. Fortunately, that won’t cost you too much as the SanDisk 128GB microSDX card is on sale for $14 at Amazon.

This officially licensed Switch memory card requires almost no effort to install, just jam it into the Switch’s SD card slot, and you’ll have an additional 128GB of storage to play with.

Sega and Nintendo were once fierce rivals, but Sonic now feels quite at home on Mario’s platform. Sonic X Shadows Generations is the Blue Blur’s latest adventure, and it’s an excellent remaster of a fan-favorite.

Packaging together a remaster of 2011’s Sonic Generations with a new Shadow-focused chapter, Sonic X Generations is now $29, that’s a $20 discount. This is the lowest price yet for Sonic’s latest 3D game.

If you’ve got your eyes on a Nintendo Switch OLED this Black Friday you might want to consider picking up this Mario Kart bundle as it’s selling fast. We did see some retailers drop the price below $300 earlier in the week, but the stock was snapped up faster than Mario can speed around a racetrack. But even at $349, this is a great deal as you’re getting the uber-premium Switch OLED and a copy of an essential Switch game, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe alongside 12 months of Switch Online.
