The PS5’s 825GB storage doesn’t go very far, especially given the size of a lot of modern games. Unless you want to constantly have to manage your storage we’d recommend upgrading your storage space with a PS5-compatible SSD — like the WD_Black SN850X 1TB SSD that’s dropped to $89 in Amazon’s Black Friday sale.

WD_Black’s 1TB SSD if our favorite SSD for the PS5, since it has all the right hardware to run PS5 games as if they were saved on the console itself. In fact it’s so good that some versions of the card now feature PlayStation branding. They’re more expensive and offer no actual benefit, so you should avoid them if you can.

Sonic has a pretty chequered history with his recent games but 2022’s Sonic Frontiers is one of the better ones. In our review we praised the tight controls and surprisingly good story, but noted the graphical and pacing issues can drag the experience down.

But still, the Blue Blur can’t outrun the Black Friday deals — and Sonic Frontiers on PS5 is down to $17 at Amazon right now. That makes it staggeringly good value and we’d recommend you dash attack that « Add to Cart » button. Ding!

We weren’t kind to the PlayStation Portal when we reviewed it but even we know the importance of protecting your tech. So if you were one of the people that picked up Sony’s 8-inch remote play device for $200 then this is a deal for you.

Right now the Orzly Carry Case for PlayStation Portal is down 21% to $23 on Amazon. Now, we’ve not tested this exact carry case ourselves — but the product enjoys an average score of 4.7/5 across 1,669 ratings. The one caveat to mention is that this is a Prime-exclusive deal, so you’ll need to have an Amazon membership to take advantage.

PlayStation massive Black Friday 2024 launched more than 24 hours ago, and the deals are still going strong. The flagship discount is on the PS5 Slim console. You can pick from either the standard model, which includes a disc drive, or the slightly cheaper Digital Edition, which is the same great PS5 console only minus a disc drive.

The biggest discount right now is on the PSVR 2. The VR headset is a sizable $200 off, which is the joint lowest price (we saw the same deal over the summer). Curiously, the PSVR 2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle is the same price as the headset standalone, so make sure you opt for the bundle as you get one of the best PSVR 2 games thrown in at no extra cost.

Need an extra DualSense controller for co-op play (or just because it’s always nice to have an spare)? In this Black Friday sale, DualSense controllers are $20 off, and you can pick your colorway too. It’s not just the standard White model on sale, snazzy colors like Galactic Purple, Starlight Blue and Nova Pink are also now on sale for $54.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking to build your PS5 game library over the Thanksgiving period, then head over to the PlayStation Store where you can score blockbuster titles from just $3. The sale includes savings on best-selling titles including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Astrobot, Helldivers 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Silent Hill 2.

In a little while we’ll be winding down this blog for a bit while we get some much-needed rest, but before you know it we’ll be back with more Black Friday PS5 deals!
While you wait, why not snag a sick deal on one of my favorite PS5 games of the last few years? Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Edition is $49 @ Amazon, which is a steal for one of the biggest and best From Software games of the last decade.

Tekken 8 is a classy fighter that wisely never takes itself too seriously. Sweeping and silly, it uses cutting-edge graphical tech to deliver an experience that is both bruising and beautiful. However, it has too many self-indulgent story mode cutscenes.

While the DualSense Edge is a fantastic choice for a pro-level controller, I suggest the PDP Victrix Pro BFG. Not only is this currently on sale, but its modular design lets you alter the controller to better suit competitive games like first-person shooters and fighting games. When it comes to third-party PS4 and PS5 controllers, it ranks high among the best.

Stellar Blade is an excellent hack-and-slash action-adventure game that takes full advantage of the PS5’s horsepower. Featuring thrilling combat sequences, an engaging story and drop-dead gorgeous graphics, this is a PS5 exclusive worth owning. And now that it’s been enhanced for PS5 Pro, this game is better than ever.

Want to play your best? You’ll need a proper controller for that and lucky for you the PS5 DualSense just crashed to aa new low across a variety of colors, including the new Chroma Indigo, Midnight Black, and, my personal favorite, Gray Camouflage. The DualSense is your ticket to unbridled immersion thanks to its glorious haptic feedback that makes everything from the pitter patter of rain to the pull of a bow feel real. And if that wasn’t enough, a built-in microphone means you don’t even need a mic to go with it.

Become weaponized justice itself in this year’s hit RoboCop experience, taking hold of your trusty Auto-9 as you clean the mean streets up the only way you know how. Set within the events of the second and third films, RoboCop: Rogue City lets you play as one of the most deadly police officers of the near-future, protecting the innocent and upholding the law with expert precision. Are you willing to stand up to the injustices plaguing Old Detroit? Or will you just allow those unpaid-for parking tickets slide without recompense? It’s time to enter the world of Rogue City.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an amazing superhero sequel, and it’s now on sale for Black Friday, and at a new lowest price. Right now, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is $39 at Amazon, that’s a sizeable $30 off one of the best PS5 exclusives you can play right now. You play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as you web-swing through New York City fending off various villains, and getting to grips with a strange new black symbiote…

The biggest money-off deal in PlayStation’s Black Friday sale comes on the PS5’s virtual reality headset. For a limited time, PSVR 2 is on sale for $349 at Amazon, that’s a huge $200 saving and the joint lowest price to date on the VR unit.

Personally, I’ve been playing on the Meta Quest 3 a lot more often in 2024, but I do still really like my PSVR 2, and if you’re looking to dive into the world of VR (and already have a PS5 console) it makes for a great first VR unit. The $549 launch price was rather steep, but at this discounted price, it’s now a lot easier to recommend.

Lies of P was my favorite game of last year. Yes, I ranked it above The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3. This gothic Soulslike is a game I’ve been recommending for more than a year already, but now that it’s dropped to a new lowest price, it’s a title that every PS5 owner needs to pick up.

Lies of P is on sale for $35 at Amazon, that’s almost 50% off its launch price of $59. In this game inspired by the works of FromSoftware (the team behind Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring), you play a puppet come to life, and venture into a dark fantasy world in search of your creator. Lies of P looks and plays fantastic on PS5.

There’s no doubt that the flagship deal of PlayStation’s Black Friday sale is the $75 discount on the PS5, and while this promotional price has only been live for a few hours, it’s already proving popular. For a limited time, Amazon US has PS5 Slim Digital Edition for $374 and PS5 Slim for $424, the latter comes with a disc drive. We don’t expect the PS5 Slim to be any cheaper next week so now’s a good time to buy.

Want to give your PS5 a new look? PS5 console covers come in a wide variety of shades from Midnight Black to Galactic Purple, and right now, PS5 console covers are on sale for $44 at PlayStation Direct. That’s a $10 discount, and you can pick the covers that suit your PS5, whether it’s a standard launch unit, or a Digital Edition, or even a PS5 Slim (though Slim covers cost $5 more, so are $49 on sale right now).

My favorite PS5 deal of the Black Friday shopping season (so far) is easily Elden Ring for $19 at Amazon. Picking up one of the best games ever made, and arguably the defining title of this current console generation, for less than $20 is an absolute steal.

However, if you want the full Elden Ring experience, you might want to consider the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Edition for $49 (down from $79). This includes the full Elden Ring game, alongside the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion which launched this summer, and adds a whole new area to explore, the Land of Shadow.

Sony’s update of its Pulse 3D headset, the appropriately named, Pulse Elite is also on sale in PlayStation’s Black Friday sale. Right now, the Pulse Elite Wireless Headset is on sale for $149 at Amazon, that’s $20 off its full MSRP of $149 (and a lowest price).

In our Pulse Elite review, we said « The PlayStation Pulse Elite is a great headset that will easily fit into your PS ecosystem, thanks to the classic black and white colors. This headset is very comfortable and its long battery life means you won’t run out of juice mid-battle. It utilizes Tempest 3D Audio to create immersive soundscapes, and you can customize sound profiles too. »

However, there were some drawbacks, including a substandard microphone, and questionable earcups quality (which was also a problem with the Pulse 3D headset).

PlayStation Pulse Explore Wireless Earbuds are a great alternative pick for those who don’t like wearing a big bulky headset, or find an oversized band uncomfortable. Right now the Pulse Explore earbuds on sale for $169 at Amazon, down from $199.

In our review, we said « The Sony PlayStation Pulse Explore boast immersive in-game audio thanks to the planar magnetic drivers, and the fully customizable 3D audio profiles and multipoint connectivity truly elevate your gaming experience. They’re also extremely comfortable to wear during long gaming sessions. »

Astrobot is on sale! I repeat, Astrobot is on sale! This ridiculously charming platformer is one of the year’s must-play games (it was just nominated for GOTY at the Game Awards) and right now Astrobot is on sale for $49 at Amazon. That’s its lowest price ever.

In my Astrobot review, I had no doubts over awarding it an Editor’s Choice and said « Astro Bot is a joyful platforming experience that soars thanks to inventive level design and countless loving nods to PlayStation’s rich history. It also takes full advantage of the PS5 and its use of the DualSense controller remains novel. »

Now is the perfect time to pick up a new DualSense controller thanks to PlayStation’s Black Friday sale, but it’s not just the standard White model on sale now. This 28% off discount has been applied across the entire range so you can get an extra PS5 pad in colors such as Midnight Black, Cobalt Blue and Gray Camouflage!

To make the most of your PS5, you’ll need PS Plus! And right now, a year of this subscription service has dropped to its lowest ever price.

This gives you access to a huge library of games to download and play, along with a whole bunch of PS1, PS2 and PS3 classics to stream.

There are 3rd party controllers for PS5, but let’s be honest, for the shockingly impressive haptic vibrations and ergonomic stylings, there isn’t really anything quite like the DualSense.

It has a great feel in the hands, the buttons have a nice clickiness, and the rumble is unlike anything you’ve felt in a controller before. Sony hasn’t forgotten about these in the PlayStation Black Friday sale. You can get $20 off right now!

Yes, the 30th anniversary PS5 looks sexy as hell, but the better bet is to save yourself some serious money with the first real PS5 Slim deal. And by « real, » I mean an impressive $75 off — putting the disc drive edition down to $424 and the disc-free model at just $374.

Those who saw the leaks may see that’s actually 5 bucks less than what was leaked on that advertising material! And you know there are a few big reasons to buy what I believe is the best console of this generation, but the biggest is the games.

From Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarök to Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West, it’s been banger after banger for Sony’s box, and now’s the chance to experience it all yourself on the cheap.

The PSVR 2 is easily one of the best VR headsets you can buy. The library of VR games on PS5 may be small, but the experiences are incredible.

I can’t get enough of Gran Turismo 7 myself. Hopping into the Lamborghini Countach (the car I had a poster of on the wall of my childhood bedroom), seeing the super detailed interior and feeling the roaring engine around me is one-of-a-kind.

Oh, and with the PC VR adaptor (now $15 off), you can take advantage of the gorgeously colorful and high resolution display tech in here in all the best VR games on Steam.

And right now, the PSVR 2 is $200 off in the US, and £65 off in the UK! For $349, that is an insane level of tech capability — advanced VR controllers, a super high resolution 4K HDR picture quality, eye-tracking, and impressive passthrough — all for less than four hundred bucks!

It’s going to be a BIG day of deals for PlayStation gamers as the gaming giant kicks-off it’s official Black Friday sales event. That means we’re going to see some of the best PS5 deals of the whole year with big savings confirmed on the PS5 Slim console, PSVR 2 headset, PlayStation Plus membership, DualSense controllers and PS5 games.
