Eagles News: Jalen Hurts: “The next pursuit begins.”

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Jalen Hurts finally visited the Rocky Steps on Friday – NBCSP
JALEN HURTS: “You know, I told myself when I got drafted that I wouldn’t come to the Rocky steps until I won a championship. And now we’re here. And I know this year, this team has had to battle through so much, this team has had to fight, this team has had to persevere and there’s been a ton of scrutiny, ton of opinions, a ton of all of that. But I know about this city, one thing we do is we fight. We fight. And you go through the course of these things and you learn that success isn’t build off of approval. It’s built off of endurance, it’s built off of strength. You can’t quit. You can’t lose if you don’t quit. And in Philly, we don’t quit. So thank you. The next pursuit begins. Go Birds.”

The City of Philadelphia welcomed Eagles fans from all over the country for the Eagles Championship Parade on Friday to commemorate the Super Bowl LIX Champions. There was no better outpouring of love on Valentine’s Day from the City of Brotherly Love. Watch all of the speeches from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, presented by Lincoln Financial.

10 best moments from the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade – BGN
Howie Roseman literally bleeds for Philly. The Eagles EVP/GM Howie Roseman took a beer can to the head at some point during Friday’s parade, but it didn’t slow him down, and led to a pretty epic opening line when he took the podium.

Eagles Super Bowl parade 2025 best and worst moments from Philadelphia – SB Nation
Before we can truly close the book on Super Bowl LIX, there is one final bit of business. A parade. Today the Philadelphia Eagles and thousands upon thousands of their fans will gather in the City of Brotherly Love to pay tribute to the team that denied Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs their shot at NFL history. The parade will begin at Lincoln Financial Field around 11:00 a.m. Eastern, heading down Broad Street towards City Hall before arriving at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. That is where around 2:00 p.m. a ceremony will take place, including speeches from the players. Whether anyone can top Jason Kelce’s speech following Super Bowl LII remains to be seen.

NFL’s eight biggest Super Bowl windows right now? Eagles, Lions, Chiefs top list; Commanders rising! – NFL.com
1) EAGLES. The ultra-talented roster assembled by general manager Howie Roseman could keep the Eagles in title contention for the next half-decade. The aggressive talent evaluator has stockpiled blue-chippers at marquee positions while also providing the coaching staff with a collection of developmental prospects owning the potential to emerge as key contributors down the road. Offensively, Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley will once again anchor an offense featuring an explosive trio of playmakers (A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert) in the passing game. The Eagles’ dominant offensive line will continue to impose its will on overmatched opponents, as Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata and Landon Dickerson spearhead a unit specializing in bullying defenders at the point of attack. After earning his first Pro Bowl berth (as well as second-team All-Pro honors), Jalen Carter could make a real push for Defensive Player of the Year, with Nolan Smith and Jordan Davis supporting his efforts on the front line. With Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean and C.J. Gardner-Johnson poised to play even better with more reps in Vic Fangio’s system, it is hard to imagine the Eagles failing to seriously contend for another Lombardi Trophy with a loaded roster that is the undisputed gold standard of the league.

The Chase Is On – Iggles Blitz
It has to be torture to listen to Jerry Jones talk about being “all in”, but not putting any real action into those words. The Eagles just had an amazing offseason, headlined by Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun. Dallas got Zeke Elliott and Eric Kendricks. One of those things is not like the other. You know Washington is telling themselves they are oh so close to the Eagles. They won the Week 16 game. Jayden Daniels looks like the real deal. The Commanders got smoked in the NFC title game. I’m sure they will blame that on turnovers. We’ll have to wait for next season to see how things play out. Detroit had an amazing 2024 season, going 15-2. They looked like the team to beat for much of the season. That all changed when the postseason arrived and they got blown out by Washington. Lions players had to be crushed by such a horrible ending to such a great season. They will have a chip on their shoulder heading into next year. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown is already letting everyone know he wants to play the Eagles in the season opener.

Bowen: Another Eagles parade, and maybe more to come? – PHLY
This Eagles Super Bowl parade might have been lighter-hearted, more pure fun than the first one. You are free to disagree. I don’t think analytics can prove or disprove my thesis. But to me, the 2018 parade was about history. People carried their relatives’ ashes to hold aloft as the buses passed by. It was joyous, yes, but burdened so much by the past. A momentous occasion. Even Jason Kelce’s canonical speech was at heart a list of grievances the long-sought victory had addressed. I covered that seven-years-ago parade for The Inquirer, and the fans I spoke with all seemed to want to document history, share it with loved ones. I’m sure there was a lot of that Friday as well, but I’m also sure that liquor stores throughout the region must be out of those little plastic bottles of Fireball, because I walked over several thousand of them during the course of the day. It was party time. The crowd was youngish and buoyant. This time, no one talked gravely of how long they’d waited to see such an event.

The biggest roster decision for every NFL team entering 2025 – PFF
Philadelphia Eagles: Which key free agents are retained. The Eagles are probably still swigging champagne from their Super Bowl victory, but the NFL offseason calendar waits for no one. A year after assembling maybe the best offseason in league history, general manager Howie Roseman will have to determine which players to keep from his championship roster. What makes Philadelphia’s free-agent crop so intriguing is not only the level of talent but also the presumptive cost. Milton Williams and Josh Sweat could each receive deals exceeding $20 million annually, while Zack Baun (90.1 PFF overall grade) could become one of the NFL’s highest-paid linebackers. Mekhi Becton (70.7 PFF overall grade) should also receive a raise after turning in an impressive season at a new position. Roseman is slated to have only $18 million in cap space, which means that several impact players from 2024 probably won’t be retained. Considering that players like Moro Ojomo and Jalyx Hunt have already flashed their potential, those decisions may be a bit easier.

Should the Eagles exercise their fifth-year options for Jordan Davis, Jahan Dotson, and Kenny Pickett? – PhillyVoice
If the Eagles don’t exercise Davis’ fifth-year option and he pops in 2025, they’ll regret not having him under contract in 2026 at $11.5 million. The 2026 franchise tag amount of interior defensive linemen in 2026 will be around $25 million. Jalen Carter played over 1000 snaps in 2024, and the Eagles might lose Brandon Graham (retirement) and Milton Williams (free agency). Their iDL depth could be depleted and if they lose Davis in 2026 that would be yet another spot that would have to be filled. The best player on the Eagles’ defense is Carter, and Nolan Smith is a budding star. Carter and Smith are both close with Davis. Perhaps there’s something to be said for nurturing camaraderie in the locker room and keeping your best players happy? #JimmyVerdict: My bet is that the Eagles will indeed talk themselves into exercising Davis’ fifth-year option, or find some other compromise with Davis in the form of a contract extension.

2025 NFL predictions: Super Bowl 60 picks, MVP, breakouts – ESPN
Kalyn Kahler, national NFL reporter: Eagles over Bills. The Chiefs will fix their left tackle spot, but I think the Bills will finally have Kansas City’s number in the postseason. And under GM Howie Roseman and coach Nick Sirianni, the Eagles have shown they can succeed despite losing coordinators, so the departure of Kellen Moore won’t sabotage their plans of winning back-to-back Super Bowls.

2 women shot in fight over toilets at Eagles’ Super Bowl parade – NJ.com
Two women were shot in their legs near the Eagles parade on Friday afternoon in a dispute over the use of porta-potties, police said. Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. on the 2300 block of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, as players and other team officials were giving speeches nearby on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Chiefs’ pass protection plan became a nightmare in Super Bowl LIX – Arrowhead Pride
In Super Bowl LIX, the Philadelphia Eagles registered a 40-22 blowout of the Kansas City Chiefs by dominating the line of scrimmage throughout the game. Kansas City didn’t score until it was trailing 34-0 in the third quarter. Taking advantage of the Chiefs’ lackluster offensive line play (and the team’s refusal to run the ball), the Eagles defensive line had a day to remember, hitting quarterback Patrick Mahomes early and often. Philadelphia finished the contest with six sacks, 11 hits and 17 pressures. All of this rattled Mahomes — and as a result, his timing was off throughout the night.

What aided Eagles rookie Quinyon Mitchell in becoming a Super Bowl champion? Fruit farming. – Inquirer
Quinyon Mitchell’s football career ended in 2019 when he graduated from high school and did not have a college to attend. He once planned to play at the University of Florida, but his grades dipped as a senior at Williston High in Florida and the Gators backed off. He tried to improve his academic standing that summer but fell short of qualifying for college. For Mitchell, that could have been it.But this was a kid who spent his summers picking watermelons in the Florida heat. He wasn’t done yet. “Hard work is in his genes,” said Mitchell’s father, Quentin.

Daily Slop – 14 Feb 25 – ESPN names Commanders “the best candidate” for Myles Garrett trade – Hogs Haven
“The Commanders have the No. 29 pick in April’s draft, and that would likely be in play as part of a Garrett deal. Would they be willing to throw Jonathan Allen into the mix? The 30-year-old defensive tackle is in the final year of his deal, and Newton seems ready to move into a starting role next to Payne. The Browns have Dalvin Tomlinson on the interior, but Allen would give them a second impact tackle and soften the blow of losing Garrett. Washington could also get a third team involved as a potential landing spot for Allen. Either way, if the Browns are actually willing to deal Garrett, the Commanders should be the first team they call.”

Who is Kellen Moore: Getting to know the Saints new head coach – Canal Street Chronicles
During Moore’s 6 seasons coaching in the NFL, his offenses have been ranked: Top 10 in no-huddle rate, every year. Top 10 in neutral pace, every year. Top 10 in offensive plays per game, every year. Top 10 in points per game, 5 of 6 years. Top 10 in yards per game, 5 of 6 years. In 2024, the Eagles ranked 7th in scoring offense (27.2 ppg), 8th in total offense (367.2 total yards per game) and 2nd in the NFL in rushing, running the ball on an NFL-high 55.7% of their offensive snaps. For Moore, who just became the youngest head coach in the NFL, those are some pretty impressive stats. For the Saints, who were desperately in need of change, those are some pretty good reasons to get excited about the new era in New Orleans.

The jury is in, the Cowboys made a huge mistake letting Kellen Moore get away – Blogging The Boys
It’s been a rough go for the Dallas Cowboys. Not only did they fall short of making the playoffs, but their divisional rivals, the hated Philadelphia Eagles, took home the top prize by claiming their second Super Bowl win. While the Eagles get to have confetti and parades, the Cowboys are left scratching their heads wondering what’s next. The only thing they do know is they have moved on from head coach Mike McCarthy, resetting their coaching staff. What makes this change even more depressing is that former coordinators Dan Quinn and Kellen Moore, who aren’t too far removed from being in Dallas, have already achieved success that the Cowboys haven’t had in almost 30 years. Quinn helped turn the Washington Commanders around and immediately led them to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1991. That’s crazy. And Moore, who was in his first year as offensive coordinator of the Eagles, is a Super Bowl-winning coach. That’s even crazier.

NFL insider: ‘Zero’ chance the New York Giants trade No. 3 pick for Matthew Stafford – Big Blue View
NFL insider Adam Schefter on Thursday poured freezing cold water on the assertion by Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports that the New York Giants might offer the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in exchange for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
