Cyber Monday 2024 Camera Deals Live: Plus, savings on telescopes, binoculars and stargazing accessories
Refresh
We bid farewell to Kate as she is logging off, and we welcome back our health writer Anna Gora. You know what this means — even more excellent deals from the health and fitness world. This time, we are pivoting from small fitness trackers and activewear essentials to something much, much bigger. Drumroll please, here comes an excellent deal on one of the best rowing machines we tested.
The Hydrow Wave rowing machine is now $250 off at Hydrow, bringing its price down to just $1,445. This means it is now at its lowest-ever price. This deal is also available at Best Buy and Amazon. Why are we making a fuss about this offer in particular? We do not tend to see many good discounts on top-quality gym kit, Black Friday or not. To put it into perspective, the iconic Concept2 RowErg has stuck to its full price for the entire Black Friday weekend, and this rower, though undeniably an excellent piece of kit, does not even feature any high-tech frills like an interactive screen. The Hydrow Wave, on the other hand, has all the goods.
Our reviewer loved using the Hydrow Wave, rating it as one of the best rowing machines on the market. It offers a lovely frictionless row, engaging workouts and loads of handy fitness content for the rowing newbies. Even if you have never rowed before, this machine will get you going in no time.
Looking for a gift for a runner – or someone who spends an awful lot of time on their feet? Then get them the OOFOS OoAah recovery slider, now at 20% off for Prime Subscribers and down to $47.96 – and wait for the gratitude.
Yes, they are ‘just’ sliders, but boy, will tired feet thank you for them. They have some serious cushioning in their patented footbed design that really does help ease the aches and discomfort of a long run, or a long day. In fact the makers say their foam absorbs 37% more impact than traditional footwear materials. All we can say is at the end of a marathon, it certainly feels that way.
This is a deal just for Prime subscribers, so snap it up if you can – we don’t often see OOFOS discounts as they have such a cult following in the world of distance running. Yes, there are cheaper imitations on the market, but with the design being patented, they probably don’t offer quite the same blissful relief for your feet.
Shopping Cyber Monday for children and in need of present ideas? Get them a fitness tracker too and start them on that lifestyle of healthy habits. The fantastic Garmin VivoFit Jnr is is discounted on Amazon by 22% bringing it down to $69.99 today.
It really is a great way to motivate kids to move more, without getting too serious about it. Good children’s smartwatches are all about doing the basics well, and utilising that natural desire to copy what their parents wear. All without spending a fortune or encouraging them to become slaves to a screen.
The Garmin VivoFit Jnr works with an app – but one controlled entirely by you. You can assign chores, schedule alarms or even reward good behavior (come to think of it, should add that to adult Garmins). Oh, and it runs off a cheap replaceable CR2025 watch battery which lasts about a year, comes in different designs and is waterproof so they can even use it in the pool.
There are of course cheaper options – like the Biggerfive which has dropped in price for Cyber Monday too, from $35.99 to $29.59 on Amazon. But if you want a quality watch for children around 4-10 years old, you’ll want something durable and robust from one of the best brands around.
It’s a real surprise to see so many discounts on Apple watches this Cyber Monday – after all, series 10 only came out a few months ago and already you can save $70.99 on Amazon, bringing the watch down to $329. But the deal of the day has to be an Apple Watch for just $169. That’s the SE 2022, which at Live Science we think is still the best Apple watch for the majority of people. Our reviewer gave it four stars, and the main negative is simply that the face is smaller than some of the more expensive models. If you have small wrists though, you might prefer it!
It’s obviously got all the great features you’d expect, like the ability to take calls, reply to messages, countless apps and so on – but in addition, it’s a really good fitness tracker. It tracks your sleep and heart-rate variability, both of which are really good indicators of your recovery, whether from a hard workout or the stress of spending the weekend scouring for the best deals. (No? Just us?) You can track specific activities from HIIT sessions to dance via yoga and swimming.
Our reviewer, however, did note that it doesn’t have options for tracking what happens when you jump out of a plane. So apologies to James Bond and Ethan Hunt, but you’ll have to look at our top-end fitness-focused smartwatches round-up instead.
Hello – Kate here, on the hunt for good health and fitness deals. So, sound the lowest ever price alert! The Beats Studio Buds are just $99 on Amazon for Cyber Monday – and that’s with two years of Apple Care. That’s a huge 44% saving on the usual price.
Nothing motivates you through a workout like a good playlist. Some of us are old enough to remember making mixtapes on actual cassettes. Gulp. But while modern over-ear headphones are great for comfort and travel, for fitness we think in-ear works best.
As our reviewer noted, when it comes to setting up and using, they are not dissimilar to AirPods – they connect pretty seamlessly to Apple devices or whatever other Bluetooth device you want to use. The charging case offers up to 36 hours of battery life, and they are super comfortable.
Your only issue is, as with all charging cases small enough to fit in a pocket, that you will lose hours of your life to trying to remember which pocket you left them in. Oh, wait, is that just us?
Oh, and if you don’t want the Apple Care package, you can get them at the bargain price of $79.99
Professional photographers want the best of the best, and are, for the most part, able to pay for it. But that doesn’t mean we don’t still want a nice Cyber Monday saving, right?
The good news: The Sony A1 is its lowest-ever price of $5,019.95 at Walmart.
The bad news: The Sony A1’s ‘lowest-ever price’ is still a lot of money at Walmart.
Yes, it is expensive. However! That is the lowest price we’ve seen it so far, likely in thanks to the recent announcement of the Mark II, so if you’re ready to invest in yourself and your photography career, this is truly an outstanding camera that’s worth every cent. But you’ll need to be fast, we don’t know if this price will increase again after Cyber Monday.
During Kimberley’s Sony A1 review, she took it to photograph the puffins on Skomer Island and the results were just unreal. Paired with the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II, she was clinging onto her camera bag (that had a total worth of about $10K) on the boat for dear life — “If I fall in, save the camera” — and the amount of detail we could retain after a very heavy crop in the images was just unbelievable.
What’s the one thing you cannot do astrophotography without? A camera? Ok…yes, a camera. A lens? Alright, yes, that too. Patience? Absolutely, but that’s not what we meant.
The one crucial component of astrophotography is a sturdy tripod. Long exposures require still-as-a-mouse conditions to avoid blurry images, and one of our favorite tripods, the Benro Mach3 9X CF Series 3 tripod is now $60 off at Amazon. We gave it 4.5/5 stars in our full Benro Mach3 review.
It’s a breeze to set up with large, soft twist locks, and the foam padding makes it easy on the hands on a chilly night when you need to carry it. It comes with a padded bag and a set of spiky feet to help steady it when you’re shooting on soft terrain. The only thing missing is a central column, which we found unhelpful when we wanted to mount a pair of the best binoculars for stargazing on it as we couldn’t adjust the height. But for astrophotography, it’s fantastic.
If you’re in the market for one of the best Sony cameras on the market, with glue-like autofocus accuracy and massive 61MP images — the Sony A7R V is still on sale for its lowest ever price of $2,799 at Walmart.
Kimberley reviewed the Sony A7R V over at our sister site Space.com and loved it so much that she just bought herself one over the weekend. During her review, she took it to Copenhagen to capture the magic of the beautiful Danish capital. Not only is it great for cityscapes, but its AI-powered autofocus makes it one of the best cameras for wildlife photography.
This telescope has sold out!
The Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 114AZ has sold out at Amazon. Annoyingly, Amazon was the cheapest place to buy it, (hence why it sold out), but while they work on getting it back in stock, here are the next best deals.
Target: $269.95 (comes with a 2-in-1 red flashlight and portable power bank)
Speaking of fitness trackers — this superb deal deserves to be shouted about from the rooftops. One of our favorite value smartwatches, the Amazfit Balance is now 30% off at Amazon, saving you a round $60. This brings its price down to just $139.99, making this neat watch the cheapest it has ever been. If expensive Garmin watches intimidate you with their complex specs, but you also find cheap Fitbit or Xiaomi bands just a tad too basic, the Amazfit Balance will be right up your street.
This watch was one of the biggest surprises of 2024 for our health writer. During our Amazfit Balance review, we were impressed with how exceptionally compact, sleek and comfortable to wear it was, and how it managed to deliver top-notch tracking results while maintaining an affordable price. More importantly, it is one of the very few fitness trackers that take your sleep and stress levels with the seriousness it deserves. The Amazfit Balance is designed to help you strike a perfect balance (you see what they did there) between exercise and recovery, and it does so in layman-friendly terms.
It may not be the most durable wearable we ever tested (if so, it would likely price-match some of the best Garmin watches), but for just $139.99 it is an absolute steal. A fantastic way to save cash before the January fitness craze officially begins.
Good morning! Our health writer, Anna Gora, is jumping on the live feed. We know that the New-Year-New-Me wellness kick is still weeks away and hardly anyone has thought of their fitness goals for 2025 just yet, but hear us out. This public service announcement may save you some serious cash later.
January is traditionally a big harvest time for fitness brands, and understandably so. This is a time when many people invest in new exercise equipment and fitness trackers, trying to get back in shape after Christmas indulgence. This is also a time when prices of these goods tend to spike up (though they are still disguised as deals, of course). But, here is the thing. You still can get fit without draining your wallet — just make sure you buy your fitness gear during the Black Friday sale. Check out our top deals on fitness trackers and exercise equipment for some tried-and-tested ideas 😊
Those of you who were here on Friday and Saturday for our Black Friday live blog may have been keeping up with Kimberley’s impulse photography purchases — and we are excited to say that one of the deliveries will be arriving today! Not the fun camera and lens one, sadly, but we’ll be here to show an unboxing of the accessories and photography essentials that she bought…whenever it arrives.
In the meantime, to help us all get through a chronic case of The Mondays, here’s an adorable photo of a red panda, taken by the editor of Digital Camera World, James Artaius, when he reviewed the Nikon D850 for us. Coincidentally, you can pick up the Nikon D850 for $2,029.95 at Walmart for Cyber Monday. We rated it as the best DSLR camera for wildlife photography AND astrophotography.
Our fitness guru will be taking over next to bring you the best Cyber Monday health & fitness deals!
Calling all Swifties! Earlier in the year Taylor Swift was spotted using the OM-D EM-10 Mark IV, and it’s now the cheapest it’s been in over a year! To celebrate, let’s see how many Taylor Swift puns we can fit into one post…

If you’d rather see the night sky from the comfort of your warm home than have to put on your coat, hat and gloves and venture out into the chilly darkness to see it with your telescope, this Govee star projector deal will bring the cosmos indoors.
Govee Star Light 8 projector now 55% off — save $100 and get it for just $79.99 at Amazon
We haven’t reviewed it so we can’t personally claim whether it’s one of the best star projectors, but when we compare it at a glance to some of the others we have had our hands on, it seems pretty good! There are mixed reviews, some excellent, some…not so excellent, but overall it has a rating of 3.8, with over half of the reviews rated 5 stars.
It comes with 8 discs and offers 38 scene modes to choose from, including a sleep, universe, natural, emotion, thunder & rain and festival series, and the choice between ‘diffusion’ or ‘gathering’ movement modes makes it look like you’re shooting through the stars at warp speed, as opposed to most other star projectors which just rotate.
You can control it straight from your smartphone using the Govee Home app — not to mention, it’s also Alexa and Google compatible. Plus, it has a built-in speaker with 37 different noise effects that match the projections.
(Also, if you love to annoy your neighbors, Govee have a load of fun outdoor holiday lights for your house on offer for Cyber Monday!)
PRICE CHANGE
We’ll get the bad news out of the way first — our favorite binoculars for stargazing, the Celestron SkyMaster Pro, has increased in price since yesterday. Amazon were offering a $35 coupon to apply at the checkout, making them $210.65, but today they’ve taken the coupon away, and they don’t seem to be in any Cyber Monday deal at all.
We’ll keep track of this throughout the day, but they’re still a decent price at $245.65 and are, otherwise, the cheapest they’ve been since April.
The only other price change we’ve seen is an odd one…
The Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ was in a Cyber Monday deal of $365.74 yesterday (Sunday) yet today (Monday) it’s NOT in a Cyber Monday deal…but it’s $10 cheaper. Make of that what you will!
Amazon’s gonna Amazon…
Good morning and Happy Cyber Monday!

Anyway, coffee has been brewed, cat has been fed and sufficiently fussed over, brain has been located and installed — so settle in, and let’s get saving.
We’ll be back shortly with some tempting Cyber Monday deals!
