Best Black Friday phone deals 2024 live: Huge savings on iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy S24, Pixel 9 and more

We’ve mentioned a lot of different iPhone 16 deals, many of which tie you to carriers. The offer at Best Buy is no different, as you have a choice for signing up with either Verizon or AT&T when you buy an iPhone 16. But the retailer throws in a nice bonus to sweeten the offer.

Buy the iPhone 16 for $829 at Best Buy, and you’ll get a $100 gift card to go with your purchase. You can further reduce the cost of your new phone by trade-in a current model, though you get the gift card regardless. It’s not quite the same as getting the phone for free as you do in other deals, but that $100 can come in handy as you continue your holiday shopping.

Maybe you’ve looked at the Galaxy S24 Ultra with its built-in stylus and thought, « That could come in handy. » Then you saw the $1,299 asking price for the S24 Ultra and set that thought aside. But you don’t have to spend big bucks for a phone with its own stylus, especially when you factor in a Black Friday deal.

The phone I’m talking about is the Moto G Stylus 5G. No, its stylus isn’t as fully featured as the one on Samsung’s premium phone, but it can help with editing photos and scribbling notes. And it’s hard to beat the Moto G Stylus price, which is normally $399. But right now, Amazon is selling the Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) for $237.

I reviewed the Moto G Stylus 5G (2024), and I actually think the bright screen and long-lasting battery are the real stars of the show for this budget phone. I also like the look and feel of this year’s Moto G devices, which disguise their budget roots.

My last two smartphones have been from Google’s Pixel A series, and they really are the the best Android phones around for the money. Packing all the perks of a flagship Pixel device at a fraction of the cost, the Google Pixel 8a also inherits some Google AI features from the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro that are huge time-savers, like how Magic Editor takes care of all the heavy lifting in photo-editing. With Black Friday, an already affordable phone is cheaper than ever, with Best Buy discounting it down to just $299. Just note that you need to connect to a carrier during checkout, or else the price jumps up to $399 (still $100 off from its usual retail price of $499).

You don’t typically see steep discounts on newly released phones, but a Black Friday deal at Verizon has dropped the price of the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S24 FE to the low, low price of free.

Specifically, Verizon will cover the cost of the Galaxy S24 FE when you open a new line with the carrier and sign up for one its unlimited data plans. That includes Unlimited Welcome, which at $65/month is Verizon’s cheapest unlimited option. A lot of Verizon’s free phone offers usually require you to sign up for the more expensive options, so that’s a good deal in and of itself.

As with similar Verizon offers, you’re getting the $649 cost of the phone back in monthly bill credits. Verizon spreads out those credits over 36 months.

The Galaxy S24 FE makes a few trade-offs from the regular S24 models — the telephoto lens isn’t as powerful for starters. But it supports the same Galaxy AI features as the other flagships so you’re getting a premium experience in a lower-cost model that won’t cost you anything under this deal.

In my book, it’s the Motorola Razr, not the Galaxy Z Flip, that’s been the more impressive foldable flip phone in recent years. Start with the fact that the cover display on the Razr Plus is larger and more functional — there are times you never have to flip open the phone at all, just taking care of business on the exterior display. As our Motorola Razr Plus (2024) review noted, this phone also has great battery life, especially for a foldable.

Right now, it’s a good time to be in the market for a premium foldable flip phone, as the 2024 version of the Motorola Razr Plus is $200 off at Amazon, bringing the price down to $799. Comparison shoppers will note the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has the same price cut right now — well, most of the Z Flip 6 colors are $200 off — but I’d steer you toward the Razr. It’s got a slick design, bright main display and peppy performance that help it make the better overall choice.

I’m Philip Michaels, and I’m the managing editor for mobile here at Tom’s Guide. I’ll be taking over this guide to Black Friday phone deals for the rest of the evening. Like my colleague, John Velasco, I’ve been reviewing phones for more than a decade now, which has trained me to spot a good deal.

Let’s start by looking at one of my favorite phones from the past year, the OnePlus 12. It may be a midrange device, but it’s got a very powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset that delivers flagship level performance and epic battery life. (Try 18 hours on our battery test, beating the average phone by 8 hours.)

One of the things I cited in my OnePlus 12R review was the phone’s low price here in the U.S., where there’s a 128GB that’s normally available for $499. But Best Buy is taking $100 off the price of the OnePlus 12R. Even better, that’s for an unlocked model, so you can ultimately take the phone to whatever carrier you want.

The OnePlus 13R will probably appear in the early months of 2025, but if you don’t want to wait that long, the current model is a terrific option and now it’s there for an even better price.

Sharing more of the same features found on the Pro models than ever before, the iPhone 16 proves that, pound-for-pound, it’s one of the best contenders for best phone, with its stylish looks, excellent cameras, and Pro-like features.

Foldable phones became much more affordable with the Motorola Razr 2023, but it’s taking things to a whole new level this Black Friday courtesy of Amazon, which has the flip style phone for 50% off its normal price.

For $349, it’s a bargain like no other because of the cool factor you’d get with owning a foldable phone. It’s made more satisfying knowing that it features that razor like thinness that makes it sleep in your pocket. I also love how you can still use the tiny outer display to take better selfies and video of yourself with the rear cameras. And finally, you can lean on its various Flex Modes to use it in all sorts of positions.

Why it’s a great deal: It’s almost the same price as the Galaxy S24 Ultra

Today’s best foldable phones are still largely expensive, with most of them exceeding $1,500. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is one of them, but Amazon’s giving it a deserving discount for Black Friday that discounts it down to $1,312.

At this price, it costs just as much as paying for Samsung’s flagship phone in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. With the Z Fold 6, however, you’re getting a phone with more utility due to its folding nature. Not only does it have a larger main display, which is perfect for the occasional video on YouTube, but it makes for an excellent vlogging camera when you pair the external display with its rear cameras.

Why it’s a great deal: You won’t find this many unlimited data plans at this rate.

I haven’t been with a postpaid wireless carrier in years because MVNOs have been excellent alternatives at a fraction of the cost. Mint Mobile’s Black Friday offer will make you ditch you provider because you pay $10/month for 3 months to get its unlimited cell phone plan that comes with 5GB of data.

Most other traditional cell phone plans easily average about $60/month, so you can imagine the savings with this Mint Mobile offer. Not only do you get unlimited talk and text, but it comes with 5GB of data for use. After 3 months, you’ll only need to pay $15/month for the service, which is still a huge amount of savings.

Back Friday is making cheap phones even cheaper, as the Samsung Galaxy A35 drops $100 from its price tag — costing just $299 for a limited time. It may not be a Galaxy S24 Ultra, but it’s still a fantastic phone for such a relatively small amount of money.

Notable features include the bright colorful display, triple-lens rear camera, limited Galaxy AI support (including Circle to Search) and expandable storage. It may not be winning any performance or photography contests, but those are the compromises you need to make to save some cash.

Picking up an iPhone 16 Pro, but want to get some extra goodies with it? Verizon is giving away an Apple Watch series 10 and iPad with the purchase of any 5G iPhone. So long as you sign up for eligible Unlimited plans lasting at least 36 months.

Plus the iPhone 16 Pro doesn’t need to cost you anything, so long as you have the right phone to trade in first. There’s a lot to love about the iPhone 16 Pro. It’s grown in size this year, allowing Apple to fit in the 5x tetraprism lens for longer optical zoom. There’s also the brand new Camera Control button, Visual Intelligence, much-improved battery life and more.

If you’re looking to pick up the Google Pixel 9 Pro as cheaply as possible, then head to Best Buy. The retailer has knocked $300 off the price of the phone, meaning you’ll pay just $699 — so long as you connect to a carrier during the checkout process.

The benefits of having the Pro model, rather than the standard Pixel 9, are that it has a better and brighter Super Actua display, a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, faster wireless charging, and a bunch of exclusive features like Video Boost. And despite the price hikes you can now pick it up at a serious discount.

If you’re looking for a premium-feeling phone without the high price tag, then the Moto G Stylus 5G might be up your street. While it can’t compete with ultra-premium phones like iPhone 16, it still offers an excellent display with a long battery life — all wrapped up in a smart design. Plus it has stylus support, which is rare on phones as it is.

The Moto G Stylus normally costs $399, which is pretty cheap, but Amazon’s Black Friday sale has knocked it down to $237 — A $162 saving.

If you’re after a Pixel 9 and a new phone plan, then Mint Mobile has the deal for you. The carrier has knocked $500 off the cost of a Pixel 9 — bringing the total to $299. The only catch is you also need to sign up for a 12-month phone plan.

Fortunately those are also discounted for Black Friday, and you can get Unlimited data for just $15 a month — which is half off. The plans also come with 5G and tethering as standard, unlimited texts and minutes, free calls to Canada and Mexico, plus automatic phone unlocking after 60 days have passed — letting you switch to another carrier once your plan ends.

Foldable phones have a certain stigma when it comes to price, however, a recent Black Friday deal has cut the cost of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 to under $800. That means you can get one of the best foldables for the same price as an iPhone 16.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a lot to offer the average user, from a more durable design, a better low-light camera performance and a wealth of Galaxy AI features. That means you get things like Circle to search and the AI photo suite, but more importantly the interpreter mode that works with the FlexWindow to make translating a breeze.

The Fan Edition Samsung phones tend to be released later than the mainline phones, and often for cheaper. However, Black Friday is a time when you can really grab some great deals and there’s one that makes the affordable Galaxy S24 FE even cheaper.

Currently, you can grab the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE for as little as $534 from Amazon, that’s a 25% decrease from the usual cost of $709. For that, you’re getting a phone that we stated could be a mainline phone alongside the Galaxy S24 thanks to the display, cameras and the Galaxy AI features available on the device.

If you happen to be looking for a new phone but aren’t fussed about all the bells and whistles then I can recommend this latest deal from BestBuy for the iPhone 14 Plus. Right now it is possible to grab one of Apple’s best iPhones for only $629.

The iPhone 14 Plus is a visual upgrade over the iPhone 14 thanks to the increased 6.7-inch display. There’s also a pretty decent set of 12MP cameras and the relatively powerful A15 bionic chip. If you just want a decent phone and have no interest in AI then you’d be hard-pressed to find something better.

Grabbing some of the best phones can be expensive, but right now you can grab the Google Pixel 9 for the cheapest price ever, but only the 128GB porcelain color. For only $548, which is 31% off from the base price of $799, you get fantastic cameras, a new brighter display, improved battery life and RAM, not to mention some great AI features.

It’s worth noting that the Google Pixel 9’s Tensor G4 chip isn’t the best on the market, and falls behind some of the other options. However, you are getting a lot of power for a little under $600, and that should make it a major consideration for anyone looking to save a bit of cash.

Retailers aren’t the only ones with phone offers this Black Friday either. AT&T has a whole range of offers for those of you picking up the iPhone 16 Pro — including up to $1,000 off if you trade in an eligible phone first.

But that’s not all. The carrier is also offering $200 off when you sign up for a new line online, and the opportunity to pick up an iPad 10th gen or Apple Watch SE for just $0.99 a month. That means you’ll have paid less than $36 by the time your 36-month plan ends.

There’s no shortage of cheap Android phones out there, but there are a bunch of reasons why we recommend Google’s Pixel 8a. The main one being that it has all the benefits of a flagship Pixel device, without the associated costs. That means first access to new Android software, Tensor-powered AI features, excellent cameras, a good screen and, in the case of the Pixel 8a, solid battery life as well.

The good news is that the Pixel 8a is down to $299 at Best Buy, which is the lowest price we’ve ever seen it. The only catch is that you need to connect to a carrier during checkout, or you’ll end up having to pay an extra $100.

Most foldable phones on sale right now are expensive, but the flip phone models are quite a bit cheaper — especially if you buy from Motorola. Right now you can grab a Motorola Razr 2024 for $424 at Amazon. That’s $275 off the usual price, but only if you buy it in Spritz Orange. The Back Sand and Koala Gay models are $24 more.

The 2024 Razr is pretty similar to last year’s Razr Plus. Wit it you get a large 3.6-inch cover display, a 50MP main camera, 4,200 mAh battery and 30W charging, plus a vegan leather exterior with improved durability. Sadly the second camera is a macro lens, rather than ultrawide or telephoto, so bear that in mind.

The good thing about Black Friday phone deals are that they make even the most expensive phones a lot more affordable. Case in point, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 — which is now $582 off at Amazon. It’ll still cost you $1,317, so it’s by no means cheap, but it’s a lot more palatable than $1,899.

The Z Fold 6’s main attraction is the large 7.6-inch foldable display, which gives you a tablet-like experience with all the portability of a phone. Samsung’s also improved this model with a thinner and lighter design, boosted durability, exclusive Galaxy AI features and excellent performance from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Even Apple is getting involved with the Black Friday festivities. The annual Apple Store Shopping Event has just kicked off, and while Apple isn’t discounting anything buying the right device will net you an Apple gift card of varying amounts. But only if you buy before the end of December 2 — aka Cyber Monday

iPhone 16 isn’t part of this offer, but the iPhone 15 will come with a $75 gift card when you buy. Meanwhile if you want something a little cheaper, iPhone 14 comes with $50 gift credit and iPhone SE nets you $25 back. Then those cards can go towards buying something to complement your new phone — like a case or a charger.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is one of the best phones you can buy right now, but it isn’t cheap. Fortunately Amazon has knocked the price down by $250 for Black Friday — meaning you’ll have to pay $949 instead of $1,299.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra offers a lot for that price too. Not only does it have a gorgeous 6.8-inch display, it also offers a 200MP main camera, up to 100x zoom, over 16 hours of battery life in our testing, a built-in S Pen, support for Galaxy AI and more. And all with $250 off if you’re quick about it.

iPhones aren’t know for being cheap, but the iPhone SE can offer that same iPhone experience in a much cheaper package. More so now that Black Friday is here, thanks to Walmart knocking the phone down to $149. Which is a fantastic deal, provided you’re happy being locked to either Straight Talk or the Walmart Family carriers.

There’s a lot packed into the iPhone SE. Excellent cameras for a cheap phone, 5G connectivity, a more durable design than you’d expect and a compact design — thanks to it being the smallest iPhone around. The design may be a bit dated, but it’s still an excellent phone, particularly when the price is this low.

Black Friday phone deals cover a lot more than the phones themselves. Carriers are also offering discounts and offers on their service plans, but few seem to be as appealing at Mint Mobile — which is offering plans from as little as $15 a month.

You have two options with this deal. If you want to keep your existing phone and only go to Mint for your data, then you’re only eligible for the $15 deal for 3 months. But if you buy a new phone as well, that offers extends up to a year. Best of all the deal applies to all Mint’s data plans, including Unlimited — which is essentially half off the normal price

Other perks of Mint include tethering and 5G at no extra cost, unlimited minutes and texts, Wi-Fi calling plus free calls to Mexico and Canada. Ryan Reynolds has to call home sometimes, after all.

If you’re looking for a brand new iPhone 16, then you can’t get any better that this deal from Amazon and Boost Mobile. With it, you can pick up the iPhone 16 for $0.01 with no trade-ins required. That’s not a typo, it really will cost you a single penny. The only catch is you have to sign up for a Boost Infinite unlimited data plan, which starts at $65 a month.

While the iPhone 16 doesn’t have quite as impressive a camera or display compared to iPhone 16 Pro, it’s still one of the best phones around. Not only does it have strong battery life and performance from the A18 chip, it also has the new camera control button and full access to Apple Intelligence — including the new Visual Intelligence AI vision mode.
